Pancake Update #3
By DnA | May 13, 2008
C’e Acqua Calda!
2000 guests and Cambodia awareness.
When I was reviewing my Italian recently, one of the first phrases listed under the topic “Hotels” is “Non c’e acqua calda” meaning “There is no hot water.” (This is followed immediately by “There is no heat,” and then, “This room is dirty.” Doesn’t do much to promote Italian tourism, does it?)
Anyway, it is no longer true at Bulstrode (as it has been ever since we arrived) that there is no hot water. Hurray! What a line formed up for the first hot showers in months! We felt like we should let others go first since we had only been here 6 weeks. Other WECcers had spent the entire winter without hot water, and we never heard one of them even hint at a complaint!
On the pancake front: we have been researching on line and reading through a catalog we picked up at a Tesco store the other day for little camp cooking stoves. We are not sure how well they work, how long the little gas cartridge could be expected to last or where to get refills when ours runs out. We are just pondering all these things in our hearts, or maybe a little further down. We’ll be in touch.
Here at Bulstrode we just finished the big May Day celebration. We had about 2000 guests for a day of speakers like Ronaldo Lidorio and information for those who are interested in looking into missions. There was a gigantic tent (they call it a marquee here) out back just below our window, and from the loudspeakers we could hear the music from all the groups that used it over the weekend. (We shared the tent with a local church before our day arrived.) Several exciting outcomes: over a hundred came forward to respond to a call to missions; we got to visit with a good friend who is a Regional Director in West Africa and catch up on prayer needs there; and there were hundreds of fabulous homemade cookies left over which turned up at coffee break the next morning.Thank the Lord for all of these.
On the Operation World front we two are currently compiling the research done over the last 5 years on
