How Can You Be Love?
By arnelle | April 22, 2008
How can You BE love? We all try to “have” love. That is to say, It is some part, but not the whole, Some part separate from us - But which we value - (Usually) And try to hang on to, Try to “have,” Pray to “have more” of . . . . But not BE! We can’t even imagine BEING love. If You ARE love, Then there is nothing You do that is not love. Mercy is love. Justice is love. Compassion is love. Vengeance is love. Patience is love. Wrath is love. You are all powerful love, Everywhere present love, All knowing love. Unlimited and unconditional love. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We are not like You. We hoard our tiny bowl like holy water Sprinkling it sparingly On the heads of Proper penitents, and Our own favorites. Then we run out. Someone will have to say a lot of nice things to us Before we can start the ritual again. But YOU! Love pours from You like the rain, Like the streams from the mountains in springtime Like the churning rivers that carve their way to the sea Like the sea - unfathomable - Rich, life giving waters Like . . . And what is greater than the seas? - Because Your love is not that small It flows deeper than the galaxies, Higher than the reach of heaven, Broader than the greatest span the greatest mind could ever imagine - Relentless torrents raging Boundless, timeless, matchless, free. O Unspeakable Eternal Love, I cannot encompass You. Encompass me.
